Quick Access & History¶
As your notebooks grow, the notes you actually work with day to day are a small, shifting set. VNote gives you two fast ways back to them: Quick Access for the notes you deliberately keep close, and History for the notes you have recently opened.
Quick Access¶
Quick Access is a small, pinned list of notes you want one keystroke away — a daily journal, a running to-do note, a project's index page. Unlike history, it does not change unless you change it.
- Add a note to Quick Access from its context menu or the Quick Access menu.
- Open Quick Access from the toolbar or its shortcut to jump straight to a pinned note.
- Remove a note when it is no longer front-of-mind.
Because Quick Access holds only what you choose, it stays a short, high-signal list of your current focus.
History¶
History records the notes you open, automatically. When you need to get back to something you were reading an hour ago without remembering where it lives, the History dock widget lists your recently opened notes in order. Select any entry to reopen it.
History is maintained for you — there is nothing to curate. It complements Search and United Entry: search finds notes by what's in them, while history finds notes by what you were just doing.
When to use which¶
- Reach for Quick Access for notes you return to over and over — pin them once and forget the path.
- Reach for History to retrace your steps to something you touched recently.
- Reach for Search or Tags when you need to find a note by its content or topic rather than your recent activity.
Together these keep navigation fast even in large, deeply nested notebooks.
